Biography
Ben has specialised in planning and environment law for more than 25 years.
Admitted as a Solicitor in 1993, he was an Associate with a National law firm at the time of his admission as a Barrister in 2001. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2017.
In addition to his law degree, Ben has a Masters degree in Urban and Regional Planning.
In the course of his practice, Ben advises and appears on behalf of a diverse range of developers, local governments, State agencies and submitters in all manner of Planning and Environment Court disputes and related mediation. He has appeared in many of the significant appeals in the Planning and Environment Court and Court of Appeal over the last decade or so.
Ben was also an Associate Editor of the Queensland Planning and Environment Reports for many years from 1998.
In the 2022 Doyles Guide for Leading Planning and Environment Law Barristers, Ben is ranked as a “Preeminent” Senior Counsel. He is also identified as a “Leading Silk” in “The Legal 500 Asia Pacific.”
